Portfolio and Blog of Domani Turner-Ward

Hello, World!

Hello! This is my first blog post as ghostbirding.art. This is the start of an exciting new journey for me–one of writing and sharing, photographing and uploading–that I imagine will be full of learning curves. My goal with this site and blog is to connect with other scientists and artists so that we may explore the world around us together. In my Projects page, I have linked a variety of pages detailing past and present research and experiences on which I have embarked. If you have any questions about my work, please reach out over email! I would love to discuss these things and to hear your opinions. Critique is welcome, too — years of studying art has helped me see how incredibly valuable it is to know how your work is received by others and improvements they see could be made. In fact, I am in my final undergraduate art class now, and I am realizing just how very much I will miss things like critique day. I am so grateful for the community by which I am surrounded, and I hope to continue building such mutually-supportive relationships as I enter new realms of adult life.

In the coming days, significant improvements will be made to this site, such as additional projects and higher-resolution images. I have procrastinated on finishing building this website for a long time (over a year!) but have decided it is of utmost importance to complete it by the time I am attending the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) next week. While there, I hope to network with my peers. I am so excited to learn about their hard work, and I look forward to the chance to share mine.

If you have read this far, I sincerely thank you for doing so! My future posts should include much deeper substance than this introduction. Next time, I will write about my experiences at NCUR. Perhaps I will even be able so share photos of the solar eclipse; I will be in a Chicago airport during its peak, a location within the 90% coverage zone!
